Influenza Vaccination Information
Patients eligible for NHS flu vaccine are:
- All patients aged 65 years and above or will be aged 65 by 31st March 2020
- All pregnant women
- Patients in long stay residential homes
- Patients who are carers
- Patients with a learning disability
- Patients who live with or in close contact with immunocompromised individuals
- Patients aged 6 months to 64 years who are in a ‘at risk’ group. These include Asthma, COPD, Chronic Heart problems, Diabetes, patients undergoing cancer treatment – please ask nursing team if you are unsure if you need one
Housebound patients will be visited by the Community Nursing Team for flu vaccine – please contact surgery to arrange
Children Influenza Vaccination Information
As with previous years the flu vaccine offered to children is a nasal spray
Children aged 2-4 years will be offered the flu vaccine at the surgery (child must be 3 on 31 st August 2019)
All other children aged 4-18 years will be offered the nasal vaccine at school or college
Children who are indicated to have the flu vaccine but cannot have the nasal spray, will be offered a flu vaccine given by injection
If your child misses the flu vaccination at school please contact the school as the school nursing team will be offering ‘catch up’ clinics
Any questions relating to children flu vaccination programme, please contact the nursing team who will be happy to advise.
There are various flu clinics available September, October, November and December.
